BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt Health Benefits:

BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt (3'-SL) is an important human milk oligosaccharide (HMO) that occurs naturally in human milk. It is found in high concentrations in breast milk, especially in colostrum, and has a unique structure and rich biological functions. It belongs to the sialylated (acidic) HMOs.

■ Structural Characteristics

BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt consists of a lactose molecule and a salivary acid residue. Lactose is a disaccharide consisting of glucose and galactose linked by a β-1,4-glycosidic bond. Sialic acid (N-acetylneuraminic acid, Neu5Ac) is linked by an α-2,3-glycosidic bond to the third carbon atom of the galactose unit of lactose. The carboxyl group of sialic acid is neutralized by a sodium ion, forming a sodium salt. This form increases the compound's solubility in water, allowing it to function better in living organisms.

BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt Applications:

The sialic acid residues in BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt can mimic the receptor structure on intestinal mucosal cells and bind to adhesion proteins on pathogens. This prevents pathogens from adhering to intestinal cells and reduces the risk of infection. 3'-SL stimulates the activity of immune cells, such as macrophages, T cells, and B cells, and promotes the secretion of cytokines, such as interleukins, to enhance the body's immune response to pathogens and improve its ability to fight infection. 3'-SL stimulates the activity of macrophages, T cells, B cells, and other immune cells. It promotes the secretion of cytokines and enhances the body's immune response to pathogens. This enhances the ability to fight infection, especially in infants and young children. It can reduce respiratory and intestinal infections.

As a prebiotic, BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt selectively promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal tract while inhibiting the colonization of harmful bacteria, such as E. coli. This helps maintain a healthy balance of intestinal flora. It can also stimulate the growth of intestinal mucosal cells, promote the repair and reinforcement of the intestinal mucosal barrier, reduce intestinal permeability, and decrease the risk of pathogens and toxins entering the bloodstream. This helps prevent diarrhea, enteritis, and other intestinal diseases.

 Growth and development

The core ingredient of BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt is salivary acid, which is a key component of nerve cell membranes in the brain. It is especially indispensable in synapse formation and nerve signaling. BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium saltserves as a "carrier" of salivary acid, which is absorbed through the intestinal tract. Then, it provides raw materials for nerve cells, helping infants and young children develop their brains and enhance their intelligence. It contains a lactose component that breaks down into glucose and galactose, providing energy for infants and young children. Galactose is also an essential component in the synthesis of cartilage and connective tissue, which indirectly supports bone growth.

BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt is available in the following specification and contents:

BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt can be added to pasteurized and sterilized dairy products, infant formulas, and complete meal replacements for weight control. It can also be used in appropriate quantities in formulas for special medical purposes according to specific nutritional requirements. BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt can be added to cereal bars and used in food supplements (excluding those intended for infants and young children).

■ Nutritional value

As a prebiotic, BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt selectively stimulates the growth and reproduction of beneficial intestinal bacteria, particularly bifidobacteria, while inhibiting the growth of harmful bacteria. This maintains the balance of intestinal microbial communities and improves the intestinal microecological environment. While 3'-SL is not a primary energy source, it can be broken down into monosaccharides, such as glucose and galactose, which provide energy through glucose metabolism to support physiological activities.

■ Production technology description

BABYILY®3'-Sialyllactose sodium salt production technology is dominated by microbial fermentation method, combined with metabolic engineering and synthetic biology technology to achieve efficient synthesis. The microbial fermentation method achieves synergistic regulation of salivary acid transferase and precursor synthesis, co-expression of key enzymes, intensification of precursor supply, and lifting of by-product inhibition by multi-dimensional gene editing, which reduces the consumption of lactose and the loss of salivary acid, and enhances the purity of the product. The product was prepared into powder product by optimising fermentation process, separation and purification technology, and spray drying.

As a complementary option to precision catalysis, enzymatic synthesis utilizes α-2,3-sialic acid transferase to catalyze the formation of 3'-SL from lactose and CMP-sialic acid. This compound is then converted to the sodium salt via a neutralization reaction. In the chemical synthesis method, lactose and N-acetylneuraminic acid are used as raw materials in a laboratory-scale, customized production process. A glycosylation reaction, catalyzed by a Lewis acid, converts the materials to the sodium salt by reacting a fluorinated glycosyl donor with lactose to produce 3'-SL. The 3'-SL is then neutralized to form the sodium salt.
