Nouramicyte®L-Histidine Health Benefits:

Nouramicyte®L-Histidine is a basic α-amino acid that contains an imidazole ring. It is an essential amino acid for infants and young children, as adults can synthesise it themselves but infants and young children cannot. It is also a key raw material in the food, pharmaceutical, and infant formula sectors.

■ Source

L-histidine was discovered independently by two scientists in May 1896, marking the beginning of scientific research into the substance. In 1901, the German chemist Emil Fischer (the founder of amino acid chemistry) confirmed through chemical degradation and synthesis that its chemical structure is L-2-amino-3-(4-imidazolyl)propanoic acid. This established that histidine possesses a unique imidazole ring side chain, making it the only basic amino acid among the 20 standard amino acids to contain an imidazole group. In 1903, Fischer synthesised the racemic mixture of histidine (DL-histidine) and, through resolution, obtained the pure L-configuration. This confirmed its chiral characteristics and provided a foundation for subsequent studies into its biological activity.

Nouramicyte®L-Histidine is a naturally occurring basic α-amino acid that is widely distributed in animal and plant proteins, as well as in microbial cells. Animal-derived proteins are the primary natural source of L-histidine. Plant-derived proteins contain relatively low levels of L-histidine, which vary considerably between species. In microorganisms, L-histidine exists only in its natural form.

Production technology description:

The industrial production of Nouramicyte®L-Histidine is primarily carried out using microbial fermentation with genetically engineered mutant strains, replacing traditional natural extraction methods. The core process comprises strain selection and breeding, fermentation and cultivation, extraction and purification, refinement and drying and final product testing. The entire process complies with GMP and food production standards, leaving no chemical residues and meeting food-grade raw material requirements. The key difference between the monohydrate and anhydrous forms lies solely in the refinement and drying stage.

Nouramicyte®L-Histidine Applications:

Thanks to its nutritional properties as an essential amino acid for infants and young children, and as a semi-essential amino acid for adults, as well as the unique physicochemical and physiological properties of its imidazole ring, Nouramicyte®L-Histidine has become an indispensable raw material in the three core sectors of food, pharmaceuticals, and animal feed. It also has niche, innovative applications in cosmetics, biochemistry and scientific research.

The primary application area for L-histidine is food, where it is primarily used as a nutritional fortifier and formulation improver. It complies with food-grade standards and makes no medicinal claims, focusing solely on nutritional supplementation and optimising food quality. Infant formula is a key growth segment for this product. In the pharmaceutical sector, L-histidine is governed by pharmaceutical-grade standards, requiring a purity level of at least 99.0% (on a dry basis) and strict control of impurities. Its core applications include use as a pharmaceutical active ingredient and excipient. Applications are divided into two main categories: nutritional support and drug modification. In certain scenarios, it is a clinical necessity. Animal feed is another key application area for L-histidine, adhering to feed-grade standards. It is primarily used as a nutritional fortifier to improve amino acid ratios in feed and enhance the growth performance and feed conversion rates of farmed animals. It is particularly suited to young animals and high-yield livestock.

As one of the 20 standard amino acids that make up the body’s proteins, Nouramicyte®L-Histidine is a key building block for the synthesis of structural and functional proteins. It provides the fundamental basis for bodily growth and tissue repair, and represents its most essential health benefit.

The imidazole ring of Nouramicyte®L-Histidine possesses buffering capacity and the ability to bind to active groups; it serves as a precursor for the synthesis of numerous bioactive substances in the human body, whilst also playing a role in regulating acid-base and metabolic homeostasis. These properties constitute its unique benefits, distinguishing it from other amino acids.

 Supports immune function

Nouramicyte®L-Histidine is involved in the protein synthesis of immunoglobulins (IgG/IgA) and immune cells (lymphocytes, macrophages), thereby enhancing the activity of immune cells. As an immunomodulator, histamine plays a role in the body’s defence response against pathogens; supplementing with L-histidine helps ensure the normal functioning of the immune response. Following surgery or during an infection, supplementing with L-histidine can alleviate a decline in immune function and accelerate the body’s recovery.
